Friday March 28th 2008: Landmark Tower and China Town

So I went to Yokohama's version of Chinatown and it is huge. It is apparently the largest Chinatown not only in Japan but also in Asia (larger than Chinatowns in both Kobe and Nagasaki) and it is one of the largest in the world. There are over 200 restaurants, but guess what they were pricey. Too many restaurants and the most of the food was Japanese, not Chinese. Although, I bumped into one restaurant that said 'Beijing' at the front.

Now, this is the Landmark Tower, which is known for being the tallest building in Japan, besides the Tokyo Tower. The Landmark Tower includes a five star hotel and 48 floors of restaurants and shops. Me and the two yanks went to the 69th floor to an observatory called the Sky Garden. The lift to the 69th floor was bloody fast and our ears popped half way up the ride. It is the world's second fastest lift at the speed of 12.5 m (41 ft) per second (45.0 km/h, 28.0 mi/h).

As you know, I have a crap 2.0 mega pixel phone camera at the moment since I left my 7.1 mega pixel Cannon camera at home, so I apologise for the clarity. I had to harrass Brian with his 5 mega pixel camera to get some of the photos. It was actually foggy at the top and that was due to the heat and humidity of Yokohama at the time (and that has nothing to do with pollution- thank God!)

Curving esculator! Bet you never seen one of those?

Wow! Isn't that amazing? When I look down at this, I remember why I wanted to come to Japan. But, bear in mind that this is just Yokohama and Yokosuka region and not Tokyo. Japan is huge!

If you look at the very end of the photo, you should be able to see shores or bays in the mist. People, that is Yokosuka, the US Navy Base and my soon-to-be new home :)

The London Eye! Maybe not. I think it's bigger than the London Eye from what I sawYep, that's big!

Looking up made me feel sick.
Urgh...?!

Can you see Yokosuka? (Photo below)
